The Asian Male - Joe from Malaysia
Joe is a guy I photographed in the spring, just before I moved to my new studio (Studio 8) in Chai Wan. Having talked to him previously online and meeting him in Bangkok's new year dance party held by GCircuit, I felt I could work with him. Quiet-spoken by nature, we arranged to photograph him when he was in Hong Kong for a short holiday. Here are the results.
Studio 8 - Model: SK
I first photographed SK in 2005 with the specific idea of capturing his lean physique and boyish-mann charms for The Asian Male 2.AM book. This time, he travelled to Hong Kong and we had all but an hour or so to shoot. The difference with the shoot was that it was more fashion-based, rather. Okay, so there is a little bit of skin. How can one resist? Take a look and see what you think.
Studio 8 - Model: Leandro
Leandro is a friend I met through a mutual friend. Half Chinese and half Latino (yes, he speaks perfect Spanish), he has this quiet, demure personality. Very unassuming and down-to-earth. He is still rather new to Hong Kong and unaffected by the glamour and complexities that the city has to offer. But put him in front of a camera, and his stage presences takes over. His eyes, his eyes!
Kiku Digital Art
Kiku is a word that is derived from the Japanese that refers to art and culture in a light-hearted way. This was perfect for what I was doing in this set of hand drawn images that were later on scanned at high resolution and colorized in Photoshop. These images make great artwork for office lobbies and interior spaces.

The Luminous Landscape - Images of Hong Kong
The Luminous Landscape is a collection of images that were taken from several outings into the Hong Kong outlying areas such as Yi O and Tai Po over a two year period. The images have obviously been colour adjusted for a variety of different luminous effects that heighten our senses. Some images I feel are likened to an older colour scheme found in hand painted images, while others are dark and ominous, and rather foreboding danger. I have always been attracted to the moody, the sublime and the slightly eccentric. Colour to me never been very interesting, but these colours do. It may be because I never see such colours in reality.
