THE CLASS
This is a class for those interested in portrait photography within a natural and studio setting. Learn what makes a photograph a good portrait. Discover how the simplest lighting techniques can give you outstanding results, and what cameras settings can offer you beautiful photographs, instantly.

Note:
Bring your camera and flash. Students attending this class should have a general working knowledge of how their camera operates, including how to set aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and ISO. The camera should allow for manual function and be a digital SLR. The class will be taught in two sections: Part 1 will be lecture and discussion; while Part 2 will be demonstration and shooting.

> 1pm - 3:30pm: demonstration and shooting

About Norm Yip

Norm Yip was born in Canada. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) at the University of Saskatchewan, he continued his studies at the University of Toronto, whereby he obtained a Bachelor of Architecture degree. In 1994, he moved to Hong Kong and worked for two architectural firms, namely Wong & Tai Associates and RTKL International, before deciding to pursue his interest of photography and art. Since then, Norm has had numerous exhibitions showcasing his paintings, graphite drawing and photography, and has taught human figure and portrait photography at Open University in 2006. His work has appeared in publications such as Dreamboys 2 and 2Blue, both special editions of Australia’s now acclaimed Blue Magazine, as well as American Express’ Centurion Magazine, and Global Investor. His clients include Sony Music Asia, CASBA, CNN-Time Warner, Fortissimo Films, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Asia-City Publishing and the South China Morning Post. He has photographed celebrities including Zhang Yi Mou, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Jamiroquai and Rain.
