Gay Artists; Gay Art?

Together with the Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival 2005, Art Statements Gallery is presenting an art exhibition of 6 cutting-edge international and local contemporary gay artists. The goal of this exhibit is to explore the limits of a sub-culture (gay and lesbian) within a dominant culture (straight) and to find a common ground where both meet and converse. Art can indeed be this link that creates a dialogue between the images shown (via media such as painting, photography and video) and the public, thus bringing a better understanding to this sub-culture as well as erasing prevailing chiches.
