| Hiring Fees - Photography by Norm Yip |
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Contrary to what most people think, hiring me is not as expensive one would expect. My fees are reasonable and range in price, depending on how much time you want hire me for, how many images you want, if you need makeup, retouching services, and prints. In a way, I base a quotation based on your budget and needs. My range for a photosession similar to the images that you see in this gallery of images start from a base fee of HK$3500 (~US$450). On occassions, I will have promotions. To know when I have them, please join my newsletter (as shown on the About page) or find me on facebook. I will not announce photography promotions via this website. DOES MY BODY HAVE TO BE MUSCULAR AND DO I NEED TO 'QUALIFY'? As a client, you can be any physical condition for the shoot, but ideally, if you are hiring me to photograph you, you should probably put some concerted effort into getting your body in the best physical condition you can be in. Mind you, you should not become obsessed about looking 'perfect'; you might never be completely satisfied and be at the gym forever hoping to become bigger here or more toned there. Set yourself a goal by booking the date. Then aim for it. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE? There are a few things you should do before the shoot besides getting your body and face looking it's best: 1) Get plenty of rest the night before. Coming in tired and worn is not going to make you look good in front of the camera. Some like to starve themselves, or depive themselves of water to get that 'dry' look. Unless you are are body builder and want shots to show off your muscularity, then you don't need to go that far. My way of shooting the body is more based on being natural with your built body. I rarely tell the model to 'flex the abs' or to give me a 'biceps pose'. 2) Get a medium looking tan. Not super dark, but just a medium brown/bronze look. Before the photosession starts, I will put a light baby oil on your skin to make it glow. No, not the slick shiny wet look, but a glow that radiates a healthy tan. 3) Bring along some basic clothes to the shoot. Like jeans, swimwear, cool briefs (no boxers), maybe a shirt or two. I don't just jump into the shoot with you completely undressed. So yes, a bit of fashion and portrait shooting at the beginning. HOW DO I GET INTO THE NEXT ASIAN MALE BOOK? That is a very difficult question for me to answer. Most of the guys that appear in the Asian Male books were selected by me, over the course of 7 years. The first book took 5 years in the photography; meanwhile the 2.AM book took a short 2 years. For 3.AM, I don't know. Currently, I am focusing on a slightly different book project, and that will take some time for fruition. In the meantime, I will be entertaining only hired shoots. DO YOU TRAVEL FOR SHOOTS? Yes, I do travel. All expenses must be paid for. If you have a group of guys that want to be photographed in your city, then let me know the details. For this, I can work out a day charge. Studio arrangements would need to be worked out. We can talk about this if it gets this far. DO YOU TEACH PHOTOGRAPHY OR HOST WORKSHOPS? Yes, I do provide photography workshops. If you have a small group of no more than 10 persons interested in learning from me, I would be glad to offer you a class. Contact Norm: nwy@normyip.com. |
