Elysium, No. 1 presents an abstract, impressionistic landscape of floating, cloud- or flower-like forms set against a blue canvas. The sombre tones evoke an ominous, mysterious atmosphere, reminiscent of themes explored in the Visitation series and Vibratory Field. This piece reflects a more contemplative and grounded approach, likely influenced by the slower rhythm of life in Saskatchewan. The ethereal beauty of the aurora borealis, which I recently experienced, has also left its mark, subtly inspiring the painting’s sense of wonder and stillness.
