Elemental, No. 1, 2025
Acrylic and chalk pastel on canvas
107 x 154 cm
Elemental, No. 1 is an abstract painting built from the simplest geometric forms—triangle, circle, and square. It deliberately avoids representation or narrative, focusing instead on the pure aesthetics of form, composition, and the physical presence of paint. Traditional brushes were set aside in favour of kitchen towels and adhesive spreaders, a conscious choice to break away from familiar habits. This shift in process became a way of distancing myself from the work, creating space for the painting to emerge on its own terms: intuitively and organically. In doing so, I sought not to impose meaning, but to allow the piece to reveal itself gradually, both to me and to the viewer.
