Metrowire, No. 1
Metrowire, No. 6, 2020
Acrylic on canvas
102 x 152cm

In June 2020, I received a commission to create several large paintings for a property developer based in Hong Kong. The objective was to produce vibrant and dynamic artworks for a bustling lobby space in Hong Kong. As of now, the paintings have been completed, but their installation is scheduled for early 2021.

The artwork presented here is a condensed version of the original, featuring a reduction in both colors and lines. I’ve designated this subset of the project as ‘Metrowire,’ a name chosen to evoke the intricate network of transport and energy systems interwoven into the city’s internal and external boundaries.

Despite its initial design through computer software, the painting is executed by hand. This manual approach adds an intimate, macro-level quality, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork on a more personal level.
