Gaia, No. 5, 2022
Acrylic on paper
43.2 x 35.6 cm

After many years of investigating the art of painting, approaching the middle ground between is chaos and order can be a struggle. If the elements are too rigid, the artwork appears contrived. And if the artwork are too loose and unstructured, the artwork leans towards chaos. Similar to the Buddhist philosophy, the middle way or middle ground is the best route to take.

Gaia, No 5 attempts to find the middle way in composition and execution of objects in the landscape of Earth during its creation. A leaf dominates the lower portion of the painting while a forest of nondescript trees occupy the upper portion. There is a symbiotic relationship between the two realms.
